The Lingraphica has been placed successfully with thousands of people who have aphasia. We take pride in their triumphs, and we honor the many SLPs who have made it possible for their patients to get back to communicating.
After years of therapy and repeated failures at finding a solution for the aphasia that resulted from her stroke, Denise Halikman of El Paso, Texas, ended up in the care of SLP Andi Curl, a woman who like Denise herself doesn't take "no" for an answer. Together these two determined women took on the challenge of finding a way for Denise to express herself. Her stroke had left Denise with no spontaneous word retrieval. Almost immediately after beginning treatment, Andi recognized that, given a language model to follow, Denise could, in fact, use words what she couldn't do was initiate. Andi rightly guessed that the Lingraphica would provide the needed model.

On any given day at the library in Bloomfield, New Jersey, you might look into a study room and see two men laughing. These two men, Vahan Khoyan and Fanaise Millien, are Lingraphica users. They meet a few times a week at the library to practice with their devices and create new phrases to work on. In a folder they share, called "Vahan and Fanaise's Phrases," you might find almost anything no topic is taboo. They'll happily click the speak button and let you hear phrases they've created like "I am an old, old, and mean man," or "I'll see you later, baby." When they play one of these, they just can't help cracking up.

When his private insurer denied 42-year-old stroke survivor Randal Lee coverage for a Lingraphica, he and his wife were devastated. After his two-week trial with it, they already knew that the Lingraphica was the answer to getting Randy back to communicating.
A month after the initial denial, Lingraphica's Funding Specialist, Kevin Sigman, resubmitted the claim along with the letters and documentation. This time the insurer reversed its decision and came back with an authorization.

The daughter of a Lingraphica user reports the following:
"My father, a highly respected certified accountant, has experienced marked improvement. A long list of 'accounting terminology' has been downloaded onto his Lingraphica, which has enabled him to 're-learn' terms once very fluid. I think tears came to my eyes last week when I heard the word 'amortization' from my father!
Even more astounding is the apparent self-confidence he is regaining. He has considerably more interest in going to the office daily and feels more productive while there. The initial success my father is experiencing is giving him hope for a more satisfactory recovery and an improved quality of life. His smile is beginning to return. Thank you!"
- M.S.S., DDS, daughter of patient G.S. in Minneapolis, MN
